My Weight Loss Story
I was diagnosed prediabetic in early 2019 after years of weight gain & loss. After see how successful a close friend of mine was with VSG, my pcp suggesting WLS it and did a bunch of research I decided it was the right move for me and started the process July 2019. Found a surgeon made all the appointments with a goal rlto have VSG surgery by Jan/Fed 2020. Then Nov 2019 found out the hospital in which my surgeon at the time contracts with was not in network so it wouldn't be covered I had to start over. I was able to get a referral to 2 different surgeon which were covered and some how was able to get in to do a consultation with the one I really wanted and came with high recommendation less than 2 weeks (Dec 2019). That I also met my new nutritionist and sat with her for an appointment. We all came up with a 6 month plan for me& VSG surgery planned June/July 2020. I was actually told NOT to loose any more weight cause my BMI was right on the line if I dropped weight I would I wouldn't be approved with just pre-diabetes. Jan 2020 I was told the WLS requirements for insurance was changing but they hadn't gotten the details yet. Feb I was told the requirements changed from needing 6 month of nutritionist appointments to only needing 1. So they were submitted everything that day. Since I had completed all the other steps. March 2020 Coivd hit end of March I got my approval letter surgery set for April 16th 2020. The next day all elective surgery were canceled. I ended up getting surgery May 7th 2020 the week they reopened elective surgeries. After losing 135lbs, maintaining with meal prep & exercise. At 2½ years post-op vsg I just recently got a panniculectomy 8 weeks ago where they removed 4.2 lbs of skin. I'm living the healthiest & happiness I've ever been in my life!
